Aug 29, 2025

The Division of General Internal Medicine (DGIM) is proud to celebrate Dr. Anne Cioletti, Associate Chief of Ambulatory Operations, as the 2025 recipient of the Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM) Mid-Career Educator Mentorship Award. This honor is the highest recognition SGIM bestows on a clinician educator who has had a national impact through mentoring trainees and faculty.

Dr. Cioletti’s mentees consistently highlight her ability to inspire them to “aim higher and always work towards stretch goals,” noting her steadfast commitment: “she holds fast to my north star even when I waiver.” In addition to her leadership role within DGIM, she serves as the Director of Mentorship for the Department of Internal Medicine, where she has developed and leads an innovative group mentoring program.

A Professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine and primary care physician at Madsen Internal Medicine, Anne Cioletti, MD, FACP, provides comprehensive, patient-centered care through intentional listening and shared decision-making. Her clinical interests include women’s health, obesity care, and diabetes, but she embraces the full scope of her patients’ needs.

As a clinician educator, Dr. Cioletti’s work focuses on ambulatory education, primary care track development, and quality improvement. She is particularly passionate about mentorship, sponsorship, and coaching, with a strong emphasis on gender equity and faculty advancement.

Dr. Cioletti earned her MD from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and completed her internal medicine primary care residency at George Washington University, where she also served as chief resident. She later held leadership positions as an Associate Program Director at both George Washington University and Dell Medical School before joining the University of Utah.

Her recognition by SGIM reflects not only her national impact as a mentor but also her enduring commitment to advancing the next generation of clinicians and educators.
