Letter From Dr. Anu Abraham, Program Director

Dear Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in our Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Utah.  This is a one year, ACGME accredited program.  Fellows rotate between the University of Utah Hospital and the George E. Wahlen Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.  Our trainees will be competent in performing diagnostic angiography, balloon angioplasty and stenting, endomyocardial biopsy, atherectomy, intracoronary imaging and physiology, complex interventions with mechanical circulatory support, ASD/PFO closures and chronic total occlusions at the end of their fellowship.  Trainees will also have the opportunity to participate in Structural Cardiology procedures, such as TAVR and MitraClip.  If interested, an additional year of highly specialized training in Structural Cardiology may be pursued.  Fellows are also scheduled to see patients in an outpatient setting for one half day a week.  Each fellow is also expected to participate in scholarly activities during their fellowship.  Our goal is to provide fellows with the skills to pursue advanced fellowships or to practice in either a clinical or academic environment.
