Didactic
Didactic learning is integrated throughout the entire twelve months of the fellowship. Fellows will attend IM Boot Camp and participate in MKSAP based training modules. Weekly didactic education consists of both formal and informal lectures, daily inpatient rounds, grand rounds, treatment planning conferences, and lectures offered by our pharmacology and subspecialty colleagues and specialty services. Fellows are required to attend a minimum of 3 conferences/week in order to graduate from the program. Additionally, there will be a requirement for the Internal Medicine/Rural Track Fellows to submit an abstract or clinical vignette toward the end of their fellowship.
Clinical
The core curriculum includes clinical hours in General Internal Medicine, Hematology-Oncology, or Pulmonology as well as core rotations in General Cardiology, Heart Failure, Infectious disease, and Critical Care. Additional ancillary rotations vary depending on the track and specialty availability but historically have included specialties such as CF, Transplant Medicine, Radiation-Oncology, Palliative Care/supportive oncology, and Point of Care Ultrasound, as well as training in bone marrow biopsies, and tissue biopsies.
