Vishnu Sundaresh Leads New Clinic

The Utah Diabetes and Endocrinology Center (UDEC) is pleased to announce a new specialty service to deliver high quality patient care in northern Utah.  The Osteoporosis & Metabolic Bone Health Clinic is curated by Vishnu Sundaresh, MD, and comprises a dedicated on-site team of caregivers that includes certified ancillary staff. This program, scheduled for launch in January 2016, is designed to provide a comprehensive, single-window access to many services unique to the region:

 

  • Screening/diagnosis of osteoporosis & metabolic bone disorders
  • Same day high-quality DXA by certified bone Densitometrist
  • Screening and diagnosis of backbone fractures using Vertebral Fracture Assessment (coming shortly)
  • Fall risk assessment by certified Geriatrician
  • Counseling on calcium and vitamin D intake by certified Pharmacist
  • Same day assessment/training for weight bearing & muscle strengthening exercises by certified Physical/Occupational Therapist
  • Medication therapy by certified Endocrinologist
  • Medication administration (Denosumab) by registered Nurse
  • Biochemical markers of bone turnover to monitor treatment efficacy
  • Follow up of test results and management plan via telephone/MyChart/letter
