Dr. Ming Y. Lim, Assistant Professor in the Division of Hematology and Hematologic Malignancy and Medical Director for the Utah Center for Bleeding & Clotting Disorders at the University of Utah Health, and Dr. Ware Branch, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Utah jointly established a unique clinic for pregnant women or women considering pregnancy with bleeding and clotting disorders in Spring of 2020.
It is well-recognized that women with bleeding and clotting disorders have unique healthcare needs which may not be uniformly met by their healthcare system. As such, attention to the needs of these women and the development of designated clinics directed to their care are an effective and promising way to meet the needs and improve the outcomes for women with bleeding and clotting disorders.
During this clinic visit which is located in the Women’s Health clinic on the 2nd floor of Sugar House Health Center, patients meet with both a maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) physician and a hematology physician. A single clinic for multi-disciplinary evaluation eases the collaboration between both specialties for the care of these patients and limits the number of visits required. Together in partnership with the patient, we create an individualized plan for a successfully managed pregnancy.
Currently, we accept patients with the following bleeding or clotting disorders:
