Nephrology Professor Joins DonorConnect Board to Advance Kidney and Pancreas Transplants

Miklos Z. Molnar, MD, PhD, joins the Medical Advisory Board of DonorConnect

In an exciting development for the organ transplantation community, Miklos Z. Molnar, MD, PhD, a Professor of Medicine and Medical Director of the Adult Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program at the University of Utah has joined the Medical Advisory Board of DonorConnect.

DonorConnect, the local organ procurement organization, facilitates connections between kidney donors and recipients across Utah, southeastern Idaho, western Wyoming, and Elko, Nevada.

Dr. Molnar, who also serves as Medical Director of the Living Donor Kidney Transplant Program in the Division of Nephrology & Hypertension, brings an extensive background in transplant nephrology to the advisory board, marking the first representation by a transplant nephrologist on the board. His involvement promises to strengthen the relationship between DonorConnect and the University of Utah, with a shared goal of increasing the use of deceased donor kidneys and pancreases to help meet the national target of 60,000 kidney transplants annually by 2026.

"Joining the Medical Advisory Board of DonorConnect provides an important opportunity to improve our collaboration with local and regional partners," said Dr. Molnar. "By enhancing the utilization of deceased donor kidneys and pancreases, I look forward to contributing to an increased number of transplantations performed at the University of Utah and beyond, as well as advancing our national transplant goals."

DonorConnect's board is comprised of a variety of healthcare professionals dedicated to maximizing organ donation efforts. Dr. Molnar's addition is anticipated to bring fresh insights and expertise to enhance organ procurement and transplant strategies in the region, furthering DonorConnect's mission to save lives through organ donation.
