Dr. Srinivasan Beddhu Awarded R01 for Sit Less, Interact and Move More (SLIMM) 2 Study

The Division of Nephrology & Hypertension congratulates Dr. Srinivasan Beddhu for his new R01 obtained through the University of Utah for his project, “Sit Less, Interact and Move More (SLIMM) 2 Study.”

Project Overview

The Sit Less, Interact, Move More 2 (SLIMM 2) study funded by the NIH (R01 DK128640) tests the efficacy and feasibility of replacing sedentary duration with casual stepping duration in overweight patients with CKD. This project builds upon SLIMM pilot study (R21DK106574) in which the SLIMM intervention resulted in decreased sedentary duration and increased stepping duration; however, these changes were not sustained. Hence, SLIMM 2 uses guided resistance training and semaglutide as co-interventions in changing physical function, adiposity, and adherence to the SLIMM intervention in this population. This study is led by Dr. Beddhu and conducted at the University of Utah and Stanford University.
