Functional Role of Collecting Duct Prorenin and Prorenin Receptor in Early Diabetic Nephropathy
National Kidney Foundation of Utah
07/01/2017 – 06/30/2018

Renal tubular prorenin and prorenin receptor play an important role in the regulation of blood pressure and salt and water excretion. This proposal seeks to determine the role of collecting duct derived prorenin and prorenin receptor in blood pressure regulation and renal injury in an experimental model of Type 1 diabetic nephropathy. Findings from this proposal could identify a novel pathway that can ultimately be used to treat diabetic hypertension and kidney disease.
