Maliheh Clinic looking for Volunteer Attending Physicians

Maliheh Clinic looking for Volunteer Attending Physicians

If you are looking for a place to use your skills and give back to the community, take a look at the Maliheh Free Clinic. This clinic located in the Millcreek area provides free medical services to the uninsured and underserved populations in the greater Salt Lake area. The clinic fills a much-needed community service, and it depends on dedicated volunteers to meet that need.

Volunteer physicians and medical students contribute their time and expertise to provide quality care to many individuals who would have no other recourse to care.

Cameron Mason, a 2nd year medical student and co-director for a free clinic he manages twice a month, said, “Volunteering is a very rewarding and uplifting experience for medical students and also the attending physicians that volunteer to help us.”

The clinic is looking currently for physicians who are looking to volunteer a few hours of their time to help medical students and patients as a volunteer attending physician. Volunteer attending physicians supervise the efforts of medical students who run the clinic as they diagnose and create a plan of action for each patient. They also mentor and educate students as they continue on their path to becoming healthcare professionals.

The clinic offers basic adult and pediatric care with a focus on routine maintenance, patient education, and preventative care. Other support services include labs and screenings. Maliheh’s efforts to provide these services are vital to improving access to healthcare in our community.
