Dori Knight Appointed as UWHEN Chair
The Department of Internal Medicine is pleased to share some exciting news about one of our wonderful staff members. Dori Knight has been appointed to serve as the Utah Women in Higher Education Network (UWHEN) Chair for the University of Utah chapter. She was voted in as the next Chair by her UWHEN peers, and follows in the footsteps of previous UWHEN Chairs Mary Anne Berzins, Assistant Vice President of HR, and Ruchi Watson, Assistant Dean of the School of Business.
Ms. Knight will assume her new part-time volunteer role in conjunction with her roles as Operations Manager over Faculty & Academic Affairs, and Employee Wellness. She and newly appointed UWHEN Vice-Chair, Nicole Vallieres, Associate Dean of Finance, Operations & Development in the School of Dentistry, will assume their roles in Spring 2020.
UWHEN is a statewide initiative whose mission is to advance women’s leadership within the higher education communities. With a presence at 15 universities and colleges in Utah, UWHEN runs several programs on campus that help women advance in their careers. They also provide peer mentorship and host several free workshops and conferences to help develop professional skills.
Membership in the University’s Chapter is open to everyone regardless of gender identity, and all faculty and staff are automatically part of this community and can benefit from our resources just by being affiliated with the University.
The Department of Internal Medicine extends its congratulations to Ms. Knight, and looks forward to utilizing her important new role as we aspire to provide even more resources for our diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Ms. Knight is now available to discuss resources, events, and other opportunities through UWHEN with your team or division. Please contact her at dori.knight@hsc.utah.edu.
