Sarah Gilligan, MD, MS Sarah grew up in Maine and went to Tufts University for her undergraduate degree (BA in Psychology). She then moved to California where she met her husband while working on her MS in Kinesiology. After graduate school, she moved to Denver where she worked for several years as a professional research assistant studying exercise in patients with diabetes and PAD before returning to Tufts for medical school. She did the Tufts Main Track program, spending her third year in a rural hospital on Longitudinal Integrated Curriculum pathway. She has been in Utah for the past 5 years, completing residency and fellowship at the University of Utah. She has three children that are 8, 4, and 1 as well as 2 dogs. She enjoys spending her free time running, hiking, camping, spending time with family, and enjoying the outdoors and is looking forward to continuing her career at the University of Utah. |

Paolo Melendez, MD Paolo Melendez, MD is an Assistant Professor of Infectious Diseases at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Dr. Melendez graduated from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru. He completed general Infectious Diseases training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and pursued additional Transplant Infectious Disease training at the same institution. He joined the Infectious Diseases Division at the University of Utah in July 2020. Dr. Melendez’s interests include infections in solid organ and bone marrow transplant hosts, including cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr virus, invasive fungal infection, infections associated to CAR-T cell therapy, as well as orthopedic infections, and HIV. Dr. Melendez is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. During his free time, Dr. Melendez enjoys playing the guitar, recording music at home, spending time with his family and outdoor activities. |

Afaf Osman Afaf Osman recently graduated from the University of Chicago Hematology/Oncology Fellowship program where she was a leukemia fellow for the past two years. Her clinical interest is in myeloid malignancies. Her research interest is in studying clonal hematopoiesis as a preleukemic condition. Prior to fellowship, she was an internal medicine resident at the Johns Hopkins hospital in Baltimore. She was born in Sudan and moved to the United states for medical education. She enjoys creative writing, cooking and hiking. |

Sheeva Parbhu Sheeva was born in the Midwest and grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. He attended the University of Notre Dame and is happy to talk Irish Football with anyone who will listen. He played tennis in college and upon graduation took a couple years to play "minor league" professional tennis before attending medical school at the University of Nebraska. There he met his wife, Rachel, and they moved to Salt Lake City for their Internal Medicine residencies at the University of Utah. Sheeva also completed his Gastroenterology & Hepatology fellowship at the U and is thrilled to be joining an outstanding group of faculty in the GI division. In his free time you can find him with his wife and their newborn daughter, Stella and their goldendoodle, Roger. |

Zachary Drury, DNP, APRN Zach is a Nurse Practitioner in the department of Nephrology at the University of Utah. He graduated with his BSN from Hawaii Pacific University. Shortly after graduation, he completed a critical care internship at the University of Utah and an oncology nurse residency at the Huntsman Cancer Instute. He practiced as a critical care nurse for three years before returning to school at the University of Utah. Zach graduated from the University of Utah with a doctorate of nurse practice, emphasizing adult, and gerontology acute care. He is board-certified as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and holds national certifications in critical care and oncology nursing. Zach has worked closely with nephrology while working as a critical care nurse. He rotated with the nephrology consult service during his education and loved it! Zach served in the US Navy for four years as a musician. He was deployed throughout the south pacific several times with humanitarian missions and public outreach operations. |

Kelsey Gaid, PA-C Kelsey Gaid was raised in Roswell, Georgia and received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Georgia. She then earned her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from South University in Savannah, GA in 2017. After completing her Masters, she moved to the D.C. area where she practiced with a private Gastroenterology group and later joined the Medstar Georgetown University Hospital Transplant Institute. Kelsey relocated to the Salt Lake City area 1 year ago with her boyfriend to ski and explore the outdoors. |

Robert George Robert is a Research Analyst for the TORCH lab in Salt Lake City in the Division of Epidemiology in the University of Utah’s School of Medicine. Robert holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology and is a Marine Corps veteran. Robert’s interests include social psychology, machine learning and mental health counseling. Robert is excited to contribute to the TORCH team and to help advance research that can lead to a better understanding of the outcomes of military service and improve the lives of fellow veterans. |

Aly OBlock, MPAS, PA-C Aly Oblock, MPAS, PA-C, is a board-certified Physician Assistant with the University of Utah General Cardiology team. Prior to working in Cardiology, Aly began her career as a Physician Assistant in Hospitalist/Internal Medicine. Within this role, she gained experience in treating patients with a wide variety of cardiovascular conditions, includingheart failure, myocardial infarction, and atrial fibrillation, amongst others. Aly has a passion for medical volunteer work and has worked both locally and internationally to provide comprehensive medical care to vulnerable populations. In her free time, Aly enjoys skiing, hiking, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. Aly is originally from Utah and she is thrilled to practice medicine in her home state. |

Tammy Sheffield Tammy is from Pleasant Grove, Utah but, have lived in Grantsville, Utah for the past 17 years. She loves her farm animals and being a country girl. Tammy has 25 years of accounting experience from conducting audits, accounts payable, receivables, invoicing, budget calculation and tracking, pre-and post-grant award setup and tracking, clinical revenue projections, along with setting up clinical patient templates and billing. Tammy has 18 years’ experience at the University of Utah and most recently held a position in the Pediatric Genetics department as the Operations Manager. |

Mikayla Viny Mikayla Viny is a Research Analyst for the TORCH Lab in the University of Utah’s Department of Internal Medicine. Mikayla is a Utah native who holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from Westminster College of Salt Lake City. After being introduced to the field of public health, Mikayla became interested in contributing to research to improve the quality of life and better understand health disparities in different populations. Her research interests include cognitive health in older adults and health disparities seen in rural communities. She looks forward to applying her interests and experiences to improve long-term health outcomes of veterans. |
