NIH Announces NIH HEAL Initiative Funding Opportunities

The NIH more than 30 totaling over $850 million for addiction, pain, complementary medicine, and other research under its HEAL (Helping to End Addiction Long-term) Initiative. Because of its focus on translational science, the National Center for Translation Sciences (NCATS) that it is "poised to address the public health crisis of opioid use" and NCATS Director Christopher Austin, MD, NCATS' leadership role in "trans-NIH collaborative HEAL efforts."
